Most solar comparison platforms earn a referral fee when you buy, meaning they have a financial incentive to get you to sign. VoltIQ has no relationship with any installer or solar company. We only analyze your quote against independent data. Our only job is to tell you what the numbers actually show.
NLR PVWatts v8 (formerly NREL PVWatts) for production at your address, EIA residential electricity rates, and Lawrence Berkeley Lab's Tracking the Sun dataset for state price benchmarks. Equipment quality is scored against VoltIQ's own manufacturer list, not a government database. We do not currently look up DSIRE incentives.
You get a high score and a data-backed confirmation that your quote is competitive. VoltIQ describes what the data shows. We never tell you what to do. That decision is always yours.
We use the same NLR PVWatts tool that solar engineers use to size systems. Price benchmarks come from Berkeley Lab's Tracking the Sun 2025 dataset: 4.9 million real U.S. residential installations.
It varies by state. Berkeley Lab's Tracking the Sun data puts most fair residential quotes between roughly $2.50 and $4.00 per watt depending on location, system size, and equipment. Your SolarScore compares your quote's price per watt to the median for your specific state, so you see exactly where you stand.
